This is Georgia. She came to the Shelter in July when she was only a tiny puppy. At that time, she had only a few hairs – just like a georgia peach.
She had severe mange and her skin was infected and raw from the mites. We treated her at the Shelter for many months until her hair grew back and she transformed into a beautiful little dog. However, brown chihuahuas, next to pit bull mixes, are the most difficult dogs for us to find homes for. We knew that even after Georgia’s skin healed, it would be a tough to find her a loving home. Our animal care coordinator, Martha, decided to foster Georgia while we searched for an adopter for her.
Thankfully, the perfect adopter was found for Ms. Georgia! She’s now a pampered member of a family – living with a mom, her son, another dog and an 87 year old regularly visiting neighbor.
She even gets to go to work with the mom and serve as an ambassador for other brown chihuahuas like her.
