Marina’s Ordeal
This is Marina. She was found by a citizen hiding under a car in East Oakland. She was very thin, scared and covered in black tar. The woman scooped her up and brought her to PETS Emergency in Berkeley. PETS gave her a bath and fed her soft food which she quickly gobbled up. They found that she had trouble walking on her back legs and that she had a heart murmur. PETS called OAS to see if the Shelter would cover the cost of her care and take her into the Shelter. OAS agreed and picked Marina up the next morning. Marina is now staying the Director’s office. She is quite thin but she’s enjoying her food. She’s becoming more stable on her back legs too. We have no idea what could have happened to her. Marina’s nose is rubbed raw but she doesn’t have any other cuts or abrasions to lead us to think she was hit by a car. We may never know what happened to her. Marina will probably need x-rays and additional veterinary care that will be covered by the Friends of Oakland Animal Services.
