Surrendered Animals
Oakland Animal Services takes in surrendered animals from Oakland residents. To surrender an animal, you must bring the animal to the shelter at 1101 29th Ave. during normal business hours and show a current ID with an Oakland address. The animal will be held for four to seven days based on California law. Then we will evaluate the animal’s temperament and medical condition to determine if the animal can be put up for adoption, transferred to another organization or should be euthanized because it is too sick/injured or aggressive.
