Oakland Animal Services’ (OAS) Spotlight Series will highlight a different available animal each week leading up to Maddie’s Matchmaker Adoptathon on June 9 and 10. Throughout the weekend, dog and cat adoptions will be free to qualified homes, and, better yet, each successful adoption will earn the shelter a generous donation from Maddie’s Fund from $500 to $2,000.
This week’s Spotlight Series animal is Gus, a gentle giant of a dog. Possibly a Tornjak mix, a herding dog breed originally from Eastern Europe, Gus is estimated to be about five years old and came to the shelter as a stray in March. Although he has a beautiful soft coat of cinnamon and black and soulful brown eyes that grab your heart, his disposition is an even greater attraction. He is very calm and sweet, enjoys being around people, and will make a true companion.
Gus is just one of the many wonderful animal companion matches that will be possible at OAS during Maddie’s Matchmaker Adoptathon. Hours are Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Watch for more information here on our website or come see the shelter—and Gus—for yourself at 1101 29th Avenue, Oakland, CA.
