Please meet Ruffie, a two-year-old Husky who tips the scales at just over 75 lbs! Ruffie is a handsome and medium-energy pup who loves people! He is engaging and very friendly. Got treats? He will sit and give you his paw! Ruffie loves attention and gives out kisses, too. He is also content to spend his days exploring the world around him. His easy-going nature makes him a perfect companion for those who enjoy a furry friend who is happy to entertain himself. Whether he's outdoors on a walk or lounging in the play yard, his nose is always working overtime. His love of exploring doesn't stop at scents - Ruffie is active and would likely enjoy running, hiking, and discovering new sights and sounds.
Ruffie has experience living with other dogs but also enjoys his alone time. He is a smart, curious, and friendly dog who would make a great addition to a family looking for an active and independent companion. With his love of exploration and snuggles, Ruffie is sure to steal your heart!

Ruffie also went on a field trip with a volunteer and this is what the volunteer reported:
Ruffie had a good afternoon exploring the Emeryville and Berkeley waterfronts. He was a great car dog and sniffed the breeze and watched the people. He did not bark in the car and was a relaxed passenger.
He has a good amount of energy so we went on a pretty long first walk. After a while, he gets into a nice stride and takes it easy. He wants to check out everything along the way!
When we encountered new situations like stairs or docks or sitting areas, he would often want to wait for me to go first and reassure him. However, I had him going down narrow, noisy ramps and around noisy machines etc., and he did fine! With more and more experience he should, I think, handle anything.
He was very good when walking past other dogs or people. He wanted to meet other dogs, but when I directed him elsewhere, he complied pretty quickly.
Ruffie was a little shy at times. He can walk right past someone, but when we stopped to talk, he would start to back away and indicate that he was nervous. He seems to like to take it slow with new potential friends.
However, did go into full hunting mode when he saw ground squirrels. There’s no shyness there!
Ruffie is a doggo that is still learning about the world, and he is a big softy and really sweet.
He seemed to enjoy me petting him and even me resting my hand on him while in the car.
