Waffles is a gentle, super sweet, so far easy to train, 4 month old blue heeler/cattle dog mix puppy who is really easy going and gently engaging with people and other dogs. He really enjoys being a part of the family. He gets along with the resident dog in his foster home beautifully and has been pretty chill while his foster human has been working from home.
It's really fun to watch Waffles play! He’s all gangly limbs and has the most adorable loping way of running. In just 1 week he’s getting so much better at potty training, is bonding well with his foster family, and is great with visitors. We’ve done some light training – he’s really good at learning sit and did a down with a treat lure.
All dogs have specific training needs and Waffles will benefit from a home that can give him the crate training and/or independence training he needs to feel confident alone. Apartment residents should note that he does bark when he’s in the crate or when a door closes. Aside from crate time and his objection to an occasional door closing, he’s super quiet and just lets out the cutest little grumble mumble noises. He is showing signs of some independence, going upstairs to take a nap by himself, which is a good sign it’s just a puppy that needs more support to get comfy being alone.
He would be a great family dog, in a multi-dog family, or would be great with a dedicated owner that has lots of time, training energy, and attention for him. If you think Waffles might be right for your home, let us know! He’s ready to settle in and become part your family!
