OAS is here to help both you and the animal in your care.
Oakland Animal Services takes in surrendered animals from Oakland residents. To surrender an animal, you must bring the animal to the shelter at 1101 29th Ave during open hours, show a current ID with an Oakland address, and file a Pet Surrender Form. We are direct and honest when people surrender their pets to us. We evaluate each animal and take into consideration the animal’s age, temperament, behavior and health in order to determine which animals will be made available for adoption, transferred to another organization or should be euthanized because it is too sick/injured or aggressive.
